I have a 99 chevy astro van. I changed the rear u-joint and I removed the drive shaft to do it. Put everything back together. Runs great but now I have tranny fluid leaking from the front of the drive shaft by the front u-joint. Is there something I did wrong or should have done?? Car maitenance is a nightmare to me!!!

Re: automobile drive shaft

sounds like you damaged the seal when you reinserted the drive shaft.

OMC is right. It is a easy job to fix though. Just drop the shaft again and the seal pops out and a new one in in about 5 minutes. Be sure and lube both sides of the seal very well before installing, it will help to keep it from tearing.

it could be the seal or the yolk itself leaking. there is a small casting hole that is sealed up but sometimes leaks.
