Aust Serial num

Is there anywhere I can convert my Australia Merc serial number to the US numbering scheme; or just find more info using the Aust serial?

I would try plugging your serial number into the Mercury parts express website. It might give you all the part information you would need. http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com

Thanks for the site, no luck it comes up not found. Its 8044184, as soon as I enter it it put a 0 in front.

Do you know the horsepower & number of cylinders?

Its a 850 (85hp) with 4cyl, laso from the Merc colors used I assume 1976/1977.<br /><br />Also from the above site it says<br />"The date of manufacture (month, day, and year) is stamped on the upper port side of the cylinder block aft of the crankcase split line."<br /><br />I got the number 78276

YES thank you Stacer460 that was also my post a while back for the basically same thing. Thanks for your reply back then. Only problem is when I try to get info for my engine I keep getting the same problem, without full info on what I'm looking for I can't get anything specific. Maybe? please you could help a bit more???? it would be appreciated
