Couple of things I thought i would bring to your attention. I heard a rumor some time ago that there was a recall on the impellor for this motor but could not verify this. Last weekend I was a my dealer's whom is quite a decent guy - I asked him if he had heard of this.
He did indeed confirm this and showed me several other TSB's issued to dealers that are not public info (this surprised the hell out of me).
Here they are:

Symtom: Motor dies under heavy acceleration:
Problem: this has something to do with a vaccuum diaphram which has been replaced with a new part.

Symptom: Water in gear oil:
Problem: Seals on upper housing are insufficient - replaced by a newer part.

Sysptom: Motor shows overheat condition
Problem: Defective impellor. replace with newer one.

Symptom: Erratic running or wont run
Problem: There is a metal 'netting' on the intake manifold that can break loose and lodge in the carbs. Replace with newer netting.

There was one other one - cannot remember for sure. I believe it had to do with seals again and water in the crankcase.

Honda will pay for .3 hours for each TSB but my dealer states it takes him an hour worth of paperwork for each so he does not even submit a claim. I beleive Honda will replace these parts 100% if motor is still under warranty.

These are service bulletins, not recalls. In a recall situation ,owners are notified by letter of an unsafe or very very common failure. Those service bulletins are there to let DEALERS know that there have been SOME units out there with this problem and that they have traced them to a certain serial run or outsourced manufactured defect. They do not mean that all engines are affected and are meant as a shortcut for techs in the field. All companies that I have worked with do this.
