Purchased 2 new BRP coils for my 1973 18 HP. The old coils had the plug wires attached and inseperable. The new coils come with seperate wires . What is the best way to attach these new wires to the new coils.? Should adhesive be used? if so what kind will bond the two different materials permanently. ?

DO NOT use any kind of sealer or adhesive!

The prong within the coil(s) has a spiral to it. Simply spray a little WD-40 on that portion of the wire for lubricating purposes, then insert the wire and screw it onto that spiraled prong.

+1. NO ADHESIVE!!!!! As Joe said, there should be a small, metal pin on the coil which the inner, copper core of the spark plug wire is inserted onto. I actually twist it a bit to ensure good contact. Also, make sure you're starting with a nice flush-cut wire where you can clearly see the shiny, metal core. These links should help too.
