So, an old freiend drops off his garden equipment on occasion for me to fix for him. He's got the older Echo weedeater he pretty much uses in a commercial setting.

I picked it up, primed it turned it on, gave it a couple of pulls. Felt a little weak, and might have given a pop or two. Squirted some premix in carb and tried. About the same. Pulled he plug and it had a GREY tinge to it. Not good. Squirted some premix in it, put the plug in, and no run.

Finally I went looking for reeds. None. Then off came the muffler and I saw the exhaust port was pretty much plugged.

http://www.rcip.com/blaze/WeedeaterPortandPlug.JPG

Well after a port cleaning, checked out the exhaust screen, and a spark plug boot replacement I came to the conclusion it's pretty much burnt toast. It will almost run but labor as it appears to fight off symtoms of seizure. While it makes motor heat like you wouldn't believe. Won't dial in. Have to choke while warm for restart ect. Just all round crappy running if you would even call it that.

Remember. If you pull a plug and it's GREY COLORED that's not good.
