Looking at my winch strap & wondering if I should replace it? I have a new strap in a drawer, but I'd rather not replace a perfectly good one:

It's gotten some use but it doesn't look badly frayed or stressed. I'd say your fine but if you're concerned, keep the spare strap either in your tow vehicle or in a boat compartment. That way if it snaps on a landing you're ready to go

Before I saw the Pictures, I was going to say that if you are asking, it is probabply time.
But looking at the pictures, I don't see anything that scares me.

Wait until the first sign of failure. Torn Fibers, Tears, or Cuts, then replace it immediately.
It will give you a warning before it gives up, just don't ignore the warning!

The fact that you already have a spare ready and waiting deserves Kudos! :D

If you want to prolong the life of your strap, take the stress off it when possible. If the trailer is not connected to your tow vehicle, you can probably release the tension on the tow strap. Just be sure to tighten it before going out on the road again!

Sounds like I'm doing ok then :). The too is starting to look worn & a tiny bit fuzzy, but it definitely seems pretty solid still. I'll throw the spare in the truck under the seat and just have it on hand.

A little fuzzy isn't really a concern as long as the edges aren't frayed and there are no cuts or tears. Your strap looks to be in good shape and if you have the spare on hand your double covered.

replace it the day before it breaks.

If you are worried about it, be sure to keep your bow line tied off to the winch post until the safety chain is on. SInce I use roller trailers, I always do this.

The loop stitching has always rotted out on my straps, before the strap went bad.
