So why is the 5.3 cost more then the 6.2?

Haven't really followed them at all but maybe? One engine is based off of an automotive build platform and the other is built say inhouse as more custom type fit for certain boat manufacturers Ilmor tends to be partners with like Mastercraft, etc..?

Maybe the 5.3 is all aluminum and the 6.2 is iron block.

I might have figured it out, Ilmor is listed as joystick control with the 5.3 the 6.2 is not, and there is the twin thing. Its the most expensive but most of the new 290's with Merc package is joystick but its not mentioned

Maybe a used 270 with a 8.2 which would have CAT's and pull motor from my cruiser and install in it. 500+ HP in a 27 bowrider Weeee

The onevthey make the most of will be cheaper than the motor they make the least of !! Simple math, the more of something you make the cheaper it becomes! Unless your the gov't, then nothing is cheap !!
