The only time fishermen tell the truth is when they call other fishermaen liars. I confess that i always have to exagerate when i come home after fishing. The big one got away, there was full moon, it rained, i caught about 10 but i let them go, blah, blah, blah.The look in my wife'S face is always the same." yea right" . I can see it, she does not believe it. And she is right. Do we really have to lie so that other fishermen can see us as GOOG ANGLERS? Can't we just say the truth.."TODAY I SUCKED ".<br />IF I HAVE TO STOP FISHING TO STOP LYING TO GET TO HEAVEN....<br />SEE YA IN HELL!!!

No, I absolutely am not a liar. You are not a liar. In fact fishermen, as a group, probably lie less frequently than 74% of the general population. GG,<br />That is a LIGHT day on the Deshka river up here. Probably only 200 boats in a 1 mile stretch of the river.<br />Sat and Sun, you don't pull anchor to fight any fish. You just step over to the next boat and walk across the river.<br />The derby leader came out of here though. 66.8 lb King. Mat-Su King Derby <br /><br />AK Chappy

I am jealous in a way, but I don't know about being around so many fishermen. People running over your lines and tangles and people messing up your drift, and the 4 or 5 drunks. I guess it might be worth it to land a 66lb king though.<br /><br />What's your biggest?

The biggest one I caught weighed 37 lbs, 3 hours after I caught it. It was probably around 40 live weight.<br /><br />AK Chappy

I have never found a reason to lie. If I had a crap day, I say I had a crap day (the better half feels bad and cooks a bigger/better dinner). I too take my digital in case I haul in a big 'ol thunder fish, but I never really care what I catch, I am out there doin' it because it is what I like to do.

I never lie,but I can spin a real interesting yarn,which is not neccesarily connected to reality.However ,this is at least as much fun as the fishing itself.

We never lie it would just take all the fun out of competition. Any large fish we take pictures, weight the fish, and messure the fish. Add all this to the picture caption. Only thing that has me bugged is the Wife's biggest Salmon in almost 1.5 pounds bigger than Mine.

I personally see no reason to lie about fishing.i just tell people if they wanted to know how the fishing was then they sould have been on the water. makes a few buddies a little peeved but hay support your local fish and wildlife dept.just quit making excusses and go.now back to the lies.here is a bit of truth.I took 4th place in a bass tournament about 3 years ago, without catching a single fish.not even a hook up.co angler did but they were too small.seen one come within a few inches of my lure but turned away.but i still took 4th.no one caught much.trophy had to go somewhere since they were paid for right?

guess what? Last sunday i went fishing and caught 14 snook. all over 5 pds. wow at last i did not have to lie. i got a picture of each one and also some fillets that i was craving.At last no more lying ...............till next trip .!

I recommend not lying. Tell everyone the truth!<br /><br />For example: "Fishing wasn't good today. I didn't catch a single fish over 25 lbs."<br /><br />The real story is that you caught only one fish that was maybe a 1/2 pounder...but, he wasn't over 25 lbs so you didn't lie!

Yes, we are liars. Its fun to come home even on a fair day and call the nephews and really rub it in because they didn't make it fishing that day. I add in other peoples catches, make up whoppers and really lay it on. Great fun! Sometimes I don't know what is more fun, catching the real fish or telling all the whoppers to my nephews to make em green! Besides, Bass Pro World says it all in a sign over the door. "Welcome all Hunters, Fishermen and other assorted Liars!"

Took my "lucky" daughter out salmon fishing last week (when I take her along, I always catch fish), and sure enough, we caught four salmon, including 2 keepers. They were her first really big fish, and she caught the bigger of the two. I carefully measured it on my scale and announced loudly to the rest of the hog line, "32.5 lbs!" <br />Later in the week, we were driving across the state and my cell phone rings....it's the guy whose boat is usually next to mine, and he's talking about his success while we were away. I hung up, and said, "Jimmie says he caught a 30-pounder...that means it was 20 lbs." <br />"What do you mean?" she asks. <br />"Jimmie always adds 10 lbs. to his fish, whereas I'm the honest one...I only add 5," I replied.<br />"You mean my fish was only 27 lbs.?" she asks tearfully. <br />"Hey...you're 24 years old," I snarl, "it's high time you learned what lying bstrds men really are..."

This past sunday i really shut everybdy up. Got a 53lb tarpon on 10lb test line. Took me 81 minutes to land . What a feeling! And i had a camera! Got more pictureS of the fish than of my 8 year old daughter. <br />I can email it to anyone. OR IF YOU KNOW HOW TO POST IT HERE TELL ME HOW.
