Are these holes supposed to be there??

If someone could help me out I would appreciate it.
I have a 1988 Evinrude 88 hp spl. When I take the boat out of the
water I have water draining from tiny holes in the casing of the
lower unit. I don't remember there being these holes in the housing
but they appear to be uniform in size and shape which tends to
make me think they are supposed to be there. Are these drainage
holes or do I need to be concerned?

All modern day lower units have drain holes.

Water drains from all kinds of places when you take it out of the water. No issue in my opinion.
