Have a question...If I have a 1987 chrysler force outboard and I want to change props, Do I have to buy another chrysler force prop or can i go with another brand type like evinrude or johnson? Thanks in advance!

Re: Are props interchangeable?

Assuming your engine is a three or four cylinder engine (85-125): You can NOT use props from pre 1979 Chrysler engines. You can use props from 1979 Chrysler up to 1994 Force. You can also use some Mercury props if they are for the small gearcase 90 HP. You can not generally use OMC props BUT if you research a bit you will find that some Yammy ands Honda props have the same number and MAY work. You can use Vortex props but they need a little modification to fit correctly.

Two cylinder engines can only use Chrysler/Force props.

Best bet? stick with a Chrysler/Force prop unless you want to experiment and possibly be stuck with a prop you can't use.

Grab a catalog from a marine parts dealer, and take a look at the props section. You can usually figure out what props fit what motors by tracing thru the charts.
