Hello,

Can anyone tell me if Honda parts are cheaper in Canada. Can anyone recommend a low cost dealer who is willing to ship to the U.S.?

Thanks

- Mike

I was surprised that they were NOT, at least the dealers I tried a year or so ago.

Maybe now things are different.

I would think they would be cheaper if using USA $$
DHP

I know this not a direct answer to your question but I thought I needed a neutral starting switch in a BF40 so I priced it at a local dealer. The retail price of this item was $55 CDN and the dealer cost was $35 CDN when I looked over his shoulder at the parts book. The dealer mark-up is then 57% on this particular item! Anyway a little bending of a bracket appears to have fixed my problem so I saved a few bucks. I had no idea the mark-up was so high on these items but then again they proabably don't sell many.

Don't look at the mark up for groceries, you will die. Most are 100% or better. Jewlery 200%.
All imported parts are more expensive, even on autos.
It does pay to shop around. I went to Hardware sales and picked up 4 stainless cotter pins and they charged me 64 cents each, few days later I was in a local marine supply store and they were selling them for 8 cents.

Well, I checked with a dealer and the prices seemed to be pegged to the U.S. Dollar and to the suggested retail price on the Honda (America) website. With the shipping, it was no deal.

As a Canadian i agree, bought a couple of small parts for a 2hp a while back and was able to check the US price, seems the Canadian price is reflected in US dollars but in Canadian currency (hence appearing to cost Canadians more)

So i'd say no saving..............

Lot industries do that to appease the local dealers. Same thing w/ John Deere tractors etc. I bought mine in Canada and the only thing I saved was the sales tax (about $200)for 20 miles drive, so was worth the effort. Plus I got the motor I wanted instead a single lung Kohler like my neighbor has.

One other thing we are finding out is that some local dealers will not do the warranty work so you have to take it back across the boder, which is ok w/me, since I am so close.
