Hello,
I am new to my 94 johnson 15 hp tiller outboard.
When shifting in or out of gear I have to hit it hard.
Is this common or is there an tension adjustment that I am missing?
Grease fitting?

Thanks

I have been searching this forum much of the night and have had no luck, the closest info I can find is a tensioning screw. Perhaps?

Have you scrolled down to the end as far as you can go;there are similiar threads there. I was on here a long time before I found them. Maybe you already have.

Drain the lower and see what comes out, hard shifting can be caused by water intrusion, the oil should come out honey colored, darker is fine but white or milky is bad and means you have a bad seal and need to get it sixxed.

I would do this before you take it out again, every minute you run it with water in the lower you damage it, report back what you find.

if you shift gears without engine running-its normal
