My aq271c starts up perfectly from cold, a couple of pumps of the throttle and shes running.
If i go for a run out anchor up and go to re start 30 mins later it takes quite alot of crancking to get it fired up again. Once its fired and you turn it off and start it again it will fire right up with out any problems
Could anyone point me in the right direction of what to check to get it starting properly from hot. Good compression and timings on the mark cheers

not a stock carb for an AQ271C. (Should be a holley 715CFM 4150 series and the motor should be red)

however I would look at the choke

Defo look at the choke. Well known for them to stick some of the way on. Any engines like this I’ve had…all got the choke wound off and locked there.

Ayuh,..... Is that an AFB, or a Quadra-jet,..??
Either way, when it won't start, go to Wot,......
Those carbs can leak off internally, floodin' the motor on restart,....

Its an edelbrock 1409 il check the choke make sure its moving freely.
I did think it might be possibly be the carb getting heat soaked as it only had a paper gasket with no spacer and the fuel pipe is clipped to one of the heat exchanger pipes ( this engine has been modded indirect cooling) hopefully something simple
