Don, Captmello or anyone,

A few years ago I swapped from an AQ145 to AQ260. When I did it, I do not recall changing the flywheel cover. I am curious whether the 2 engines have the same bolt pattern for the housing, and if so (assuming I did not change the housing), whether I should now or not.

The reason is, I will be replacing the transom shield and would be a good time to get it all done.
A year or so ago, I changed the pds bearing, and as I recall it only took one bearing. I replaced it with a sealed bearing as I recall.

Am i thinking about this too much, or onto something?
Thank you,
MJ

The part of the flywheel cover that bolts to the engine is different for the two engines. One is a Volvo 4 cyl, the 260 is a SBC.
However, the part that goes through the transom shield is the same.
The 145 should have been a single bearing, but the 260 should have been a 2 bearing setup. Unless you have a much newer flywheel cover for the 14" flywheels.

Thanks, Don.
If I am correct then, if the piece that contains the pds bearing was from the 145, and is a single bearing, is it ok to keep or should i swap to a dual bearing? I do not believe that I have a 14" flywheel.

2nd question is whether the sealed bearing is ok to use.

Thanks again, Don.

The 145 cover will not fit on a 260 engine.

The 260 cover has 2 bearings.
