Just picked up an old Glastron (1971) with a VP AQ130A (don,t know the history) got it cleaned up and started but it won't run. If I pump gas in through the primer nozzles by working the throttle lever it will run for a while until it floods out, or will just stall if I quit pumping. I pulled the carbs (Solex 44pai) and cleaned them and blew them out good and put them back without any improvement. I concidered it may be a fuel pump problem but the float bowls are filling up ok so I'm shying from that therory. It does backfire a bit so I'm thinking maybe the valves might need ajusting and there may not be enough vacume to pull the fuel in????

Did you soak the carbs in carb cleaner? Was there any corrosion in the bowl of the carb?

Well, the brake cleanser didn't do it. The idle passages are probably corroded shut. If it's salt water corrosion, the carb may be junk. I have had some success getting some corrosion out with an ultra-sonic cleaner. But if there is a lot of corrosion, you will probably need a new carb.

They didn't look that bad the corrosion was just in the float bowls. I'll try soaking them over night. There was obviously a problem in the past. There are carb gaskets and parts, and even another fuel pump laying under the seat
