AQ125A/270 exhaust flap

Hi All,

Does anybody know where you can get the little exhaust flap that goes on the lower unit of a Volvo 270? Mine is half torn off, so I'll probably have to do something with it. Does anybody know if you really need the thing?

The flapper keeps water from coming back up through the exhaust and into the motor. Your local marine dealer should carry the part. And btw if half of its missing it is likely stuck in the exhaust system.

If you go up to the top left of this page, and click on Volvo Penta parts and follow the links on your AQ125A, it will take you to the lower unit.

Daddy5295, the exhaust flaps on his Volvo is on the OUTSIDE of the lower unit, nothing will be stuck in the exhaust system.

Thanks for the replies. Don S. - I found the same schematic at a different site, but they didn't have that part. I'll give these guys a call in the morning and see if they have it. Thanks again.

Some of the 125's used a 280 outdrive, they don't use that type outlet.

Sorry for the misinformation, I guess I overlooked LOWERUNIT when reading.
Don will definitely steer you straight.
