Im having an issue with my aq125. it has a new coil, points. It runs great untill it gets to operating temp then it just shuts down. When allowed to cool it will refire and run good for a few min. I think it is ignition problems? will a condenser fail at high temps ? the coil gets hot but i replaced it yesterday and still have the same issue, thanks in advanced.

Re: aq125 volvo ingition problem

Next time it stalls check the points right away. My guess is they are hot. I had that problem once when I incorrectly wired the points on my old pick-up. Problem was points were seeing full 12 volts when they should have seen around 9. Engine would run until the points heated up, then die and restart once they cooled down. If you don't have a ballast resistor then you need one built into the coil. Check to make sure the coil is of the correct resistance. You also replaced the condensor, I assume.

Have a great day

you are going to fight this for some time. Points & the condensor are going to give you problems. I switched my AQ131A over to a electronic and never looked back. I got the Hot Spark and it has been awesome.. no issues!
