Ayuh,.... Sounds like it didn't work out so well...

It Still sounds like a fuel delivery / Carb issue...

Is the tank/ fuel lines clear,..??
Fuel filters,..??
Fuel pump,..??

Those Carbs don't have chokes, so they are cold blooded. You need to first make sure your engine is tuned properly. If you have points, they need to be set with a dwell meter.

Does it start when it's warmed up?

Not sure what your starting procedure is, but since they do not have chokes on them, it normal to have to pump the throttle 2 or 3 times to pump some fuel into the engine before cranking. They also have to idle at around 12-1500 rpm to warm up enough to idle normally.

I Have a bayliner with the aq125 an they are cold blooded, if its not a nice hot day. when i go to start it i pump the gas a couple times an the trick that always works for me is i turn up the idel screw on the carb around one full turn. works about the same as a choke would. after its warmed up, just tune it back down to normal. works everytime..

by turning up the idle you are simply giving it throttle like Don said. Cold blooded is right. Give the boat a couple pumps and 1/4 throttle and give it a try. if it starts, adjust the throttle like Don said.

i have the same motor and have the same issues. they are a cold natured beast thats for sure. i used to crank on it till the battery was almost dead. what i found out was i wasnt pushing the throttle far enough to pump fuel into the carb. take off the spark arrestor and pump the throttle and see where your throttle is when you start getting fuel. i still have to pump it a few times but its starts fairly easy now.

I to have a bayliner with aq125a and have had the same problem but did you know that the control shifter in the front of the boat has a throttle warm up on it here how it works if you pull (slide ) the handle out to the left you get throttle only it's spring loaded then move it forward this way you can let that cold blooded sob warm up

Wow, I did not know the throttle did that. I had a bass boat with an old Merc that had a warm up lever, and I was really wishing my boat had one. I now know it does. Thanks scotd.
