Apply antifouling on small speedboat (do or don't do)?

Hi everyone,

Soon I will put my speedboat in the water. This boat will be in the water until October after which I will put it back inside for the winter.
After that it will be back in the water in March until October.

Now I was wondering if it would be smart to apply an antifouling to my boat while it is still on dry land?
Do you think this is a good idea or not? Or what do I do best to prevent my boat from getting very dirty underneath?

It would be a shame if I don't get my boat clean at the bottom within a few years.

If boat sits in the water long enough it will develop blisters. How much time it takes depends mostly on how well the manufacture was at applying Gelcoat

Barrier coat is applied first then bottom paint. The barrier coat it what seals the hull from water intrusion. The boat will need to be stripped every so many years depending on many things, but mostly type of water and how long its in it.

Repainting gets costly and the only alternative is a boat lift.

generally you put bottom paint in to prevent marine growth or long-term protection

Remember, for application, you must first tape off, sand the area with 80 grit, then you apply a primer, barrier coat and multiple layers of bottom paint.

it will get dirty no mater what

you didnt state if this is fresh water or salt water.
