Hi, I have a nice looking low use ns8 outboard. When I got it the pistons were stuck with rust. I am assuming water got into the motor but I don't know. I used a product called engine release and after a week the motor unstuck. Ran it today and seems to run great except a noise I am hearing, you can click my youtube video to listen. It sounds like a roughness/course noise, most notable at idle,Does anyone think this noise in unusual, you can hear it in the first 25 seconds or so in my video, sounds like a low speed sound? Might the bearings be shot? I am running a little heavier than 50:1 fuel/oil mix. Motor starts great and seems to run strong. Anyone know, thanks

My experience (limited as it is) - OBs are a lot quieter running in the water than on the muffs. Maybe try it in the water and possibly eliminate some of the exahust noise - then evaluate if it still sounds odd?

Sounds fine to me, considering it's out of the water(exhaust noise) and the top cowling is off(mechanical sounds)...hope your bearings/internals are O.K....time will tell!:)

Find someone with a similar motor, pull the plugs and listen to it. My guess is it will sound smooth& quiet.I think you have something going on inside. If the piston's were rusted, chances are bearings are also. I would not run it till a thourgh inspection gets done. Why risk damaging the crank if it's still ok?

I am assuming the powerhead needs to be pulled and split in half to see the bearings for inspection? Are bearings available seperately or do you have to buy a whole crank? Maybe I should just part this one out (it is a really clean motor with almost no hours on it, damn shame someone let this happen to it) kudos to engine release (this motor was stucker than you could imagine) the product really worked

Sounds normal.
If for some reason you did want to do rod bearings, you would order a full crank kit 3B2000690M CRANKSHAFT ASSY $421.66.
