I have a parts washer so i use Mineral Spirits.
Or
Simple Green works great.


Never heard of using Pine Sol for parts cleaning parts.

Me too. Heck, it's cheap and can get sent down the drain.

One thing I did see mentioned though was to get the original Pine Sol (the one with pine oil), and not an imitation or any of the scented Pine Sol (like the lemon one). Seems they don't work as good as the real deal.

I tried on my carbs and cylinder, Most times I only used a tooth brush to clean after.

Don't have a camera handy but try it and you will be happy... and smells nice :)

I`m in the process of restoring a 72 Suzuki gt550 and its been sitting since 82. Well needless to say the gas tank was a mess, 30 year old gas doesnt smell like gas believe me. A friend told me about the pine-sol trick so I figured what the hell. I flushed the tank with some diesel I had around and added the pine sol and about 2#s of roofing nails. I shook the tank good for a few then left over night. The next day whenever I got a chance I would shake it again. That night I dumped the pine sol and you wouldnt believe the crud that came out. I`m still going to reseal the tank but it really came clean considering where it started.
