Going to SS from Aluminum and was wondering if anyone was running something like a merc rev 4 prop w/ flo torque hub on their JOhson V6 150 or 175+.

Thanks.

I run mostly 4 blade stuff on certain boats but not that model prop. Generaly speaking you want to make sure you have enough vertical adjustment to go up from your optimum 3 blade setting.

Hang on -- I have a feeling we're going on a trip to the prop forum.......

I just raised the engine from the 2nd hole to the 3rd hole (out of 4).
It is on a Sea Pro/ Sea Boss 21' CC.

On that boat I'd look at something like a Stiletto Bay Pro III or a Turbo Ultima 4. If I remember correctly that boat needs bow lift so you may want to keep that in mind. Some sort of offset jackplate will help with that.

The 4 blades will carry a load real well and still get up in shallow water. They'll stay hooked up in a following sea too. Especially ones with larger diameter. Some of the 3 blades will have more bow lift if you're looking for top end.

It all kinda depends on what you're looking for. We're back to thet "defined use" deal.

I run a merc 4 blade 15 x 16 on my Trophy w/a with 1995 175 Opro. 17p 3blade put me at 5200 wot. This prop puts me appx 5500. Plus I like the extra bite when manuevering thru a snotty, crowded Fire Island inlet. The 15-1/2 x 15p 3b omc might be my next prop since I need to load the boat with 3-4 wealthy guys and coolers to afford the fuel on my ocean trips : )
