can someone help please...........?
my father inlaw passed away last year left me his 2003 lund 1650 ss explorer with a 60 jonhson 4 stroke fuel injection, anyway went to take the family fishing the other day did some last minute things top up fuel gear oil, thought everything was good got out into the water and cruising at about 30 knots for about 20 minutes when the motor suddenly stop, don't know what happened but after i was able to start the motor but when i tried to get the rpm up to about 3000 the motor would shake and then shut off, start again same thing: just woundering if any major damage or something i may be missing first time boat owner any help or suggestions appreciated. thanks for your help

This calls for a 4 stroke guy. My unqualified guess is something in the fuel injection system. Check all the filters, particularly the water separator (which you may not have but really need with a 4 stroke). It is identical to a Suzuki DF60, if that helps at all.

Sounds like an issue with the fuel system to me also. Don't worry you've come to the right place. The guys here are experts and will have you up and running in no time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys for the reply, best site yet......posted on other sites no response yet. phoned marina where my father inlaw bought the boat said it sounded like fuel problems too, he said at the marina to put some water remover conditioner, to see if gas maybe stail. Put some in this morning and and put the ear muffs on it got a noise that sounded like marbles floating around inside the motor or lower gear drive ..... drained gear oil and started it again and the sound went away, Do you think any major damage to the gear section or i'am i starting to panic?
