Gents:
I'm meeting with the Yamaha trainer tomorrow morning. If anyone has any technical questions on Yamaha outboards, post them and I'll try and get some answers for you. No promises, but I'll do my best.....

:)

Re: Anyone need Yamaha Info?

Schematic,

Its been awhile for me to check this website. I have one. I just purchased a yammy 150 around 87. i have a hard steering. I unhooked the steering cable and it pulled out and pushed in easily. But the motor was stiff.

Please note that where the steering cable connects to the motor. That metal arm is rusted bad. I haven't taken the outboard off to inspect it but i can see it when i tilt up or down. I spray corrosion X bottle on it to prevent any further neglect.

Can you ask the yammy guy what he think it is. What do I need to change the arm? Or is it something that i can lube up to make the enigie swing more freely. Again, it is not the cable back to the wheel. The problem is on the motor.

Any help would be appreciated.

letsbarbq

Common yammie problem..Remove cable and buy a steering tube brush (hone) and clean the tube up real good. Lube real good and reinstall cable.

Hi Schematic,

Please ask the Yammie guy what would make a Digital Yammie tach. not work. Mine is hooked up properly and reads 0 RPMS and yellow for a oil reservoir level. The trim indicator works fine.
It's for a 90hp 3 cyl, '89 motor.

Thanks,

John

Sorry Guys....no magic answers....things just break

This is as close to a diagram I could get on gauges. We couldn't get off the topic of the 200HP 4-stroke. Had her sripped down. What a work of art. Its what happens when Toyota and Yamaha work together.
