Anyone know what this fish is?

Caught by a friend a few days ago in Brant Lake, Brant Lake NY. I thought it might be a Lake Trout due to its size. If its a rainbow due to its colors I've never seen one that big? This guy does do a lot of slow trolling for rainbows. I also googled lakers in brant lake and there are none shown on the DEC website.

I think you are correct. My daughter had emailed me and I did not see the part where she said it was a german brown trout and she is an avid trout fisher women.

Yup, German Brown Trout, nice looking fish, there are a couple of lakes around my parts that they have been stocked in, pretty good eating.

The guy who caught him is a noted area "chef". I'm sure that brown trout was sizzling in garlic, white wine and butter very quickly
