Hi all. Just putting the finishing touches on my tinny and wanted to rig up some type of nifty, adjustable umbrella holder for cheap, if at all possible. I found this pic, but I can't quite see how/what it's made out of, but I like the basic design and adjustability. I can't tell if this is factory or homemade. I was thinking of using c-clamps and aluminum angle or PVC or something to build a similar sort of rig? http://forums.iboats.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Any ideas you would be greatly appreciated. Here's the pic:

Looks like a tite-lok rod holder , not sure of exact spelling but nice think for your application , you can get several variations of a mounting base ,flush mount or bulkhead type, that way with 2 or more mounts can be moved round , made of plastic and durable. Just a thought for ya.

I have used galvanized conduit brackets and a wing nut to mount an umbrella to the side of the council on my dad's old Basstracker. think we spend about $2 for both brackets, wing nuts and carriage bolts

Thanks y'all. I think I sort of kind of have a swing arm idea (maybe). Kind a like the little grils they sell for boats that can be swung into or over the side of the boat as needed. I'm thinking about putting a SS eye bolt vertically in the rubrail with a couple SS nuts of either side while passing it through one end of a 3 foot long piece of PVC tube or some aluminum angle with another piece of PVC cup or clamp at the other end that can hold the umbrella itself. That way I could mount it on port or starboard and swing it into/out of my way as needed. I'm still tinkering with the design. I'll keep y'all posted of my progress.

Here's what I'm thinking:
