Anyone here actually weld to repair/modify pontoons

I would be interested in having a conversation with some one who actually welds on pontoons. Or has the knowledge to do so.

Specifically interested in tig vs mig. Backpurge, and so forth.

.If you're welding aluminum, TIG welding is the only way to go now a days. stick welding was also a very good and strong way to weld

the logs are generally TIG. the material is most likely 5052

A subject like welding can get so many opinions and then debates from a few as well. And sadly not necessarily friendly debates either. JMHO
