Was thinking of planning a trip to Castiac Lake and was wondering how it was for boating and camping.

I've seen their website, but I would rather hear first hand experiences.

Castaic is one of the few little lakes I have not been on here, but assume it is like Pyramid and Piru but a little bigger and more open. Where do you boat now?

So far I have only been to Diamond Vally Lake. I plan to go to Catalina this Sat, then end of June to Castiac.

Well, personally, I don't boat on any of the small lakes anymore, one lap and I am ready to haul out . . . Where are you located? What kinda boat? Size?

I'm in Menifee (near Murrieta).

I have a 23' Larson 235 Hampton, just bought it about 4 weeks ago.

I have a pic in the Larson Forums, as well as the Show Your Pics thread in the General Forums.

Well if you are confident enough for Catalina, and you want to camp, forget those little lakes and head east young man, well northeast, but it didn't flow as well . . .

The heat is an issue, but that boat belongs on Lake Mead. I just think you'll be bored stiff at Castaic with a boat like that. Another lake you might wanna look into is Nacimiento:

Lake Nacimiento Resort

Well my buddy has a camping trailer, so we're just going somewhere that has water, camping etc. and I just want to get in the water.

That Lake you posted looks nice, but almost 300 miles away is a long drive, but definately worth looking into. I appreciate the info.

Also looking at going to Havasu probably sometime this year.
