I am in the mist of rennovating my bathroom and I am looking into the heated tile. I am curious if it is enough to heat a small 36ft^2 room. Currently we no forced air vents in the bathroom, only an old in the wall heater. The house is 1979 house with lots of insulation. We also have cheap municipal power ~$75/month (all electrical, no gas). In the winter time it feels like the bathroom gets in the high 50's low 60's (with the bathroom door closed). We are also going to replace exterior r-11 insulation w/ r-13 while we are at it.

I saw a heated grid for about $150 at Home Depot and a programmable thermostat for another ~$150. I am wondering if this will provide enough heat to keep the bathroom a little warmer in the winter.

Thanks in advance,

we just installed one in our bathroom, it's app 85 sq ft. with a thermostat, the contractor told me the heater would heat the whole room plus adjacent areas for around $1 a week.

the unit he put in looks like a simple copper cable, but they also have regular mats...ours was named simply "tile warmer"...from the Home depot.

They work well and cheaply if you leave them on all the time and your home is insulated well. They sure make walking barefoot in the bathroom first thing in the morning nice.

I've installed a few of those. They are not made to heat the room, just the floor. However, it feels great on bare feet and must throw some heat into the room.

Can't talk about this area, had a shop with hot water floor heat in it, during -5 weather wouldn't get above 60 +or- but would work in tee shirt feet warm, legs warm. Think you will be happy with it.
