Re: Anyone have any experience with the Summit Max Drive Shower?
I had one on the last boat (Alpha drive) and have one on current boat (Bravo X drive). Yea, they're overpriced for what they are but I wouldn't have a stern drive boat without one. Whether or not the drive runs any cooler may be debateable, but the drive stays clean and the lube is like new at 50 hours so that makes it worth it to me. That you don't have to drill holes in the drive is a definite plus.
The ONLY downside I can see is they sometimes will grab a stick (or whatever) and the prop will start to blow out. A quick blast in reverse is usually enough to clear it. I have this happen once or twice every spring when there's some trash in the water, but that's a small price to pay for the good they do (and potentially do if you believe that it actually makes the drive run cooler....not everyone does). Oh....and the extra drag will reduce your top speed by a tenth of a mph.
