Anyone have a "Memory Foam" mattress?

Looking at purchasing a memory foam mattress and wanted to get some feedback. The one I am interested has 1" of gel & 2" of memory foam & 6" of high density foam. It feels great laying on it in the store but you never know till you sleep on it for a week.

Just looking for some opinions. How do you like it? How is it holding up?

Sounds like the ones we bought for the kids (14/16). They like them a lot, bought them about 8 months ago. I've only ever slept on a full tempurpedic mattress, but when laying down on their beds when we bought them, they had a similar feel.

Pretty sure the ones they have are Sealys

My wife and I have had one for several years now and it has been great, it is the older style and had no gel, but it is a regular mattress with 8 inches of memory foam, have been happy with, nice sleep mattress.

I have one of those 4" Tempurpedic pads over a regular innerspring, LK. I bought it after sleeping on a full Tempurpedic at daughter's house.

Shoulder and hip troubles from sleeping in fetal position went away immediately and permanently.

Slept on a Tempurpedic for a number of years. Only complaint is they do not "breathe" and can be hot to sleep on .

I don't like the soft foam. It makes it too hard to turn over. I like em flat and hard.

I have a very firm posturpedic, (and my spelling needs attention), when my back starts acting up I fold a blanket into thirds and sleep on it, on the floor.

I bought a regular mattress and saw the Theroxyzputic or whatever adds. One day was in JC Penney's and they had a 2" Theroxyzputic pad for a few hundred $$$ in the king size and I added it to the new mattress. Lot cheaper than the thousand $$$ that the whole mattress costs and for a senior citizen with all the associated aches, it is heaven. Hold up? Nothing to it. Had it over a year and looks new. I did buy a cloth cover for it for $ 50 or thereabouts. Don't know if it was necessary but it's on there.

I will be the negative question poster. Don't own one, haven't sleep on one, but from store tests I wonder how much strain I would put on my weak back trying to roll over and get up. Rolling over just wasn't easy in the store.

i have one but i find it to firm. another complaint is if the matress gets cold then it gets even harder. the gel does help with the body heat but you still fell a little sticky where you have sunk in. They do tell you it takes a few minutes for the matress to sink to your body weight but as im fairly light it doesnt sink much at all and its a soft top. Be warned if you buy the some brands they will not warranty the matress unless you buy the frame from them.
The bed is ok but it has not fixed my back and i still get pressure points but on a good note its more comfortable with a matress pad on top and when i move at night it doesnt wake the wife so thats a plus. other down sides are you sink on your back so you dont roll so if you snore shes going to have to beat you with a 2x4 to get you to roll over and body sweat use to eat into the old foam making soft spots but i believe they have that problem fixed especially with the gel top.

Well, you have hit the nail on the head, that is why we have so many different types of mattresses, I have had our mattress for several years now, and have never had a problem turning over or getting out of bed, of course I have a few more challenges than many after my tour in Iraq, beings I got shot by an AK and spent two years in the hospital, so I have a weak back, and a weak hip.

To add, this statement from your post says it all. "Don't own one, haven't sleep on one"

We've had the 2' thick memory foam topper pad on our old mattress for years and love it!...Walmart has the pads in 2" and 4" I think, and lots cheaper than the entire memory foam mattress!....

A couple of months ago i was talked into purchasing a Sleep Number bed. Thus far i'm inclined to believe it was one of my best on the spur of the moment decisions. I like my side of the bed to be moderately firm, the missus prefer a more softer feel.
It's one way to keep the peace.

Re: Anyone have a "Memory Foam" mattress?

Well, guess I'll be the cold water .... have had a Tempur Pedic for several years, and I HATE it.

They suck you in by showing you the piece of foam, you press on it, and your hand sinks deeply and nicely into it. But in the real world, we (and I suppose most people), put a mattress pad on top, and we sleep on a sheet. Well, then you just don't sink in very much, and I just don't find it comfortable. Plus, it is hot as hell by morning -- starts off cool, but it just absorbs heat all night long, and by morning you're sweating.
Also, you can't use a heated mattress pad with it -- I used to like to warm up the bed before getting into it.
So basically, it's the temp control issues that cause me to really regret the purchase -- I'm just too dang cheap to toss a $2000 mattress for another couple years yet, I'll suffer for my sin.

Re: Anyone have a "Memory Foam" mattress?

Well in over 5 years of having one, we have never had a problem with being over heated, we like to sleep on the cool side and even living here in Montana, we don't use heated blankets or mattress pads, sorry you are not happy with your purchase, but we all have our different tastes, I know with my hip injury, it really makes a difference in being able to get up in the morning, them dang AK rounds will ruin a good nights sleep every time!

I will add, we stopped using a mattress pad and only sleep on a sheet.
