Fish the Ohio River Medahl Pool alot seeing is how I live next door to the Shawnee State Marina and Golf Resort. Do pretty well most of the time when the river cooroperates, but looking to do better. Anyone know any tricks, places, or hot lures to try heading into the fall bite? Also looking to broaden my horizons for places to fish around Southern Ohio, Northen Kentucky, and Western West Virgina any hot lakes I should note on my map?

Hmmmmm..Seeing alot more Ohio Ridgerunners joining iboats recently..Remember you need to talk slow here..Most folks on here are from the civilized and just can't understand ridgerunner english :D .

Your just down the holler from me and a few other addicts here..What are you wanting to target? I mainly fish for the gator..As probably with you I have at least an hour drive to reach most places..

I would say Cave Run is a good mix on the variety of fins you can find...Spinner may be able to help you out here since he is just south of you...He knows more about the river then myself..

Its nice to see some new folks visiting here..No politics here just folks who enoy the chase of the fin..

Hi Thompy....always good to see another Buckeye. Guys that fish the pools around Wheeling WVa., above and below, do a lot of tubes. Mostly watermelon colors and some pumpkin....seems they all have there favorite. Seems cranks don't do so well in these upper pools. And like ya' said, the Mighty Ohio has gotta cooperate. This year has been just terrible for river fishing. But I have seen some really nice cats taken this year. One 35 pounder during a tourney my local VFD sponsored. As for me, when I go out it's to let herself drown worms. I like to relax and just let the toon drift with some good tunes on the radio. :D

I fish alot of plastic, I mean ALOT. The hot bait this year was YUM craws in the pumpkinseed color. Didn't peg the weight and jigged all day. If not plastics fished spinner baits and top water in the morning and evening. Just gotta know the river I guess. Do you guys know of anyplace I can get a map showing depths? That would help alot considering I just work around the fishfinder. Just roll up to a potential spot and try to map it out on my own. Seems like all the creeks flowing into the river produce good, I usually fish White Oak, Turkey, Kinikinick, Ohio Brush, and Eagle creeks. Do good almost in every creek. By the way OBJ where is Rayland?

2 words there Thompy, du pont.
Have you fished behind the dupont plant yet just up river from you?
A nice hot spot for 4" punkin seed worms.

Also a nice place is the Big Sandy river.
Good points on both sides where it dumps into the Ohio.

A little farther up river is a real hot spot in behind AK steel.
There is a pipe that comes out that has warm water coming out of it all the time and draws all kinds of bait and fish in there.

Don't pass up a chance to hit Grayson Lake when you can.

And as gonfishn said, Cave Run is a good muskie lake, Muskie capitol of the world they say.

Well Thompy.....get a map and look for the panhandle of West by God Virginia. Look for Wheeling. When ya' find it, just go north a tad and you'll see Rayland on the Ohio side.....if it's a good map.....LOL!! Ain't big and ya' might miss it if ya' blink.

Du Pont eh? Never got the chance to fish it but sounds like a good deal to me.... Got a chance to fish the Big Sandy one time with a friend and his dad, didn't do to bad as I recall. Went to Grayson this summer, but not to fish... Went cliff divin'. We saw a guy fishin' no more than 30' from where we would land in the water and he caught at least 20 bass at least. Couldn't belive it. After about an hour he and his wife rolled outta there. None the less I'd like to get down there not just for the fishing but for the scenery.

When you get to DuPont, look under the water and you will see what looks like some old concrete pilings. A hot spot on the down river side.

Big Sandy is good.
Go up Sandy and stop at ever wood pile and catch some big crappie and then move to the next one and do it again.

Yea I have always done good at Grayson.
Kinda like my home lake.

Top water early in the morning and then spinner baits against the rocks.

The Bongos are real good early before the boat traffic gets going and then head up Clifty Creek.
