I took my 96 y/o daddy (in a wheelchair) to see him at the Rose Garden, in Portland OR last Saturday nite. I've watched him with admiration many a time on TV, but this live performance was like a day at DisneyLand.
He and his orchestra were incredible. In the last picture were 3 tenors from Australia, Hungary and Germany. They and the female soloists were indescribable. To be surrounded by his music was almost surrealistic. The audience just would not let him go. He gave 25 minutes of encores with the audience on their feet. The whole show lasted about 2.5 hours with a 20 minute intermission.
Near the end, he played some John Phillip Souza then America the Beautiful. He just owned that audience.
If you ever get a chance to see him on PBS, don't miss the opportunity. He gives performances all over the world. He calls himself the Flying Dutchman.
