You're like the crazy cat lady. Except with a couple dozen reptiles instead of cats.

I had a Red Tail Boa. It was give to me when it was a baby.
I kept it for several years until it was too big to handle.
Fed it live Jumbo Rats...

I had a big fake tree in the house that it hung out in.
I walk by it one day and WHAM!! The sucker bit my face! I pulled those little needle teeth out of my skin for 2 days.

It was gone that day! Gave it to a pet store!

Thinking back it would have made some nice boots...:p

I like reptiles, but don't have any myself. Wife would have a fit if I brought a snake into the house.

Let's see your pictures...

Every time i think of snakes i always think of the poor lady in an apartment building who had the neighbors snake come up her toilet wile she was sitting on it. A friend of mine had a python that was about 5 or 6 feet long. It was cool.

My dogs like me.

Your reptiles consider you to be food that they'll be able to eat when they get bigger.

Nice collection you have.

Iguanas are cool. They're real plentiful in the lush Yucat?n Peninsula.

My son had a leopard gecko for a couple years. It got sick and died.

That's all I got to say about that:)

Re: Anybody here like reptiles?

I think my wife and I had every kind of pet when the booys were young.
She got a pair of iguanas at one time with visions of walking them like a dog. She even had a harness, but that that didn't work out. Try and get a harness on a 3 1/2 foot lizard...it ain't happenin'.
I had a python at one point. I thought it was the perfect pet until it bit me. I was going to make link sausages out of it my sword !
We have a grandson who lives with us and he wants a pet. I told him he could have a turtle. But we caught a little map turtle this year out in the river and he never took care of it. I released it after two weeks. He's going to have to be content with playing with whatever stray critters pass through the yard.
We're pretty much done with the pet thing.

Re: Anybody here like reptiles?

I like reptiles well enough, I just prefer them outside. Interrestingly enough though, I have been trying to find out where I can get bulk quantities of garter snakes for the garden at well below pet store prices. Maybe someone on that forum can help me with that, so I signed up and of course used you as the referrer.

We've somehow lost our garter snake population here locally (I blame the neighbor's cats, but not TOO much, because without those cats we'd be overrun with mice from the hay fields out back), and now the slug population has been going up every year. I hate to use pesticides on them since I'm going to be eating that food myself, so re-introducing garter snakes is all I can think to do. But I can't afford to restock the area if it's going to cost me $30 each, and I know of no other natural enemies of slugs.

Re: Anybody here like reptiles?

The Geckos are really cool looking.
The Boa i had got so big it took 2 people to hold it.
When the sucker bit me it was like getting hit with a baseball bat!

They are fascinating animals but i will never own another one.

Got my two dogs thats all i need.I don't have to worry about them eating me!
They might lick me to death...:D Plus they love the boat!
They get so excited when i hitch the boat to the truck they jump in the truck and refuse to get out. They set in the truck over 2 hours last time while i prepped for the trip to the lake.
While out on the water they know when we get near the sand bar where i let them swim..strange how they know that.

Re: Anybody here like reptiles?

When I was a kid I had about 20 turtles in a pen in the garage. Not the little green ones you get at the pet store but big ones I used to find all around. We used to live close to a canal and they were always crawling across the road early in the morning. My mom uses to drive me around in some undeveloped areas by the creeks and find them too. :D I had box turtles, snapping turtles, musk turtles and a land tortise. I let them all go cause it took a lot of time to care for them. Also used to have a pet tree frog and a snake. Don't remember what kind it was, it was multi-colored but wasn't poisonous. It used to escape all the time out of the homemade cage and I would always find it all over the house in some warm place. Usually on a window sill or wrapped arpund a curtain rod by a sunny window. I wouldn't do that now but my son would love it. My wife hates most reptiles, frogs, snakes, lizzards. She might tolerate a small turtle but not 20!
