Anyone have information about a wave runner made by Wet Jet called a Sport II? I think they were made around 1990-1993. Are parts still available?
Any idea what the value of one of these would be?
Thanks for any information you can provide.

Wet Jet went under long ago. I believe they used Yamaha motors, the rest of the boat was of poor quality. If you are thinking of buying one, don't.

We have a 1996 Wet Jet. The hull is made by Mastercraft, the engine is a Yamaha. We've had no issues with it in 12 years. It's very reliable and fast. It will run with the 750's put out today. I GPS'ed it at 46mph.

they are a bit odd but look like they could be fun,, www.jetkingparts.com had a few they were parting out so if you need parts USED parts any way they probably have some.. it's like anything else if you buy it cheap and you can have some fun with it then have at it,, but the company is not making them any longer,, I believe they are classified as a boat and not a p w c so they can be used at night where pwc's are usually required to be off the water during the night. and I know that isn't true in every state but it is in most states.

Re: Anybody ever hear of a Wet Jet Sport II?

I have a real good idea what happened to them. Right after we bought ours, within a month, the little hose that connects the jet pump to the water intake had a split and burnt up our engine. It was under warranty and so they put a new engine in it free of charge. The guy had stacks of engines for that bike and he said he's just waiting for them to all come back, they're all splitting left and right. Cost to WetJet, about 2 grand per engine. A bike that is otherwise a great performer and otherwise a perfect machine with no mechanical problems had that one problem right when we bought it in late 1995. Other than that, it's been flawless. Thank god because getting parts will be a ***** when the time comes. However, Mastercraft and Yamaha are individually still in business, so it might not be that bad.

To go under (or lose lots of money) trying to save 10 cents by putting a cheap hose in the water cooling system is sad. Our bike still looks modern, 12 years later. We got one of the last ones.

And no, they didn't come and go quickly, they were in business for almost 2 decades, they just weren't that popular so you didn't hear much about them. It's sad, now if you google "WetJet" you get the swiffer wetjet floor cleaner!!! LOL

This is what ours looks like, except ours has all the original decals in immaculate condition.

Re: Anybody ever hear of a Wet Jet Sport II?

MasterCraft only built the WetJets for about 4 years up to '97.
Prior to that the 'WetJet was made in Minnesota by the Webb family. The Mastercraft factory was also in Minnesota.
These earlier models are the reason most people have a low opinion of the WetJet. The MasterCraft built skis are a quality unit and the 701 Yamaha engines are reliable and powerful.
I had not heard the cooling hose issue, but that would have been an easy recall which should have been addressed before having to replace many engines.
They are a sit down type jet ski so the sport set does not care for them much.

PS to the OP, the early models do not bring much even in good condition. Probably in the $500 range if running well and not damaged. I have not seen a source of parts for pre '94 models.
