Any way to know what engine by transom # ?

Saw a drive for sale. Transom Assembly # 0D322139 I have alphas drives 1988 5.0LX.
Any way to tell by transom # what motor?? The spouse of a dude that passed is selling and can't tell me much and quite frankly I really don't want to question her right now.Charlie

It's a 60/40% chance if the engine, drive, and transom assembly was registered together (or at all) when first sold by the dealership.

If the TA was registered then your serial number will show what engine came with it and what gear ratio too if registered with Merc.
