Any UK based boat fishermen/women reading this?

Hi - I'm in the process of tidying my first ever little boat and engine - got it running and so excited. Could not have done any of it without this brilliant forum. I have no knowledge of boat fishing in the UK - legalities, best places, things to do/avoid, so if anyone has any advice or information I was be most grateful. From what I read here the US seems pretty relaxed and people just go and have a good time - or am I wrong? I doubt that the UK will be that easy somehow!

Do you intend to fish Scotsman's flash or the Irish Sea?

Hi Rolmops - I assume you know Wigan quite well if you know Scotsman's Flash! No we are not allowed to take a petrol engined boat on there - it's a wildlife sanctuary - but the Sailing Club allowed me a trial go yesterday which went well. We will be heading to Windermere for pike as soon as poss - just need to fit more rollers on the trailer first.

Once you go to the Lake district you may want to move there. That place is beautiful.

Can you use an electric trolling motor?

I imagine you could but problem is access - I don't think the sailing club would want me using their slipway on a regular basis. They would probably charge something if they did allow it.
