I plan to go to Catalina at least a few times in August to do some scuba diving. Anyone else interested?

Let me know some dates. Depends on if my boat is here or in AZ, but I would consider a quick run over if we can make the calendar work.

We may be up for a trip later in Aug. Will be up at Shaver Lake Aug 5th-17th, I still haven't decided if my 22' is big enough for the trip. What do ya think QC?

I've been over in a 21 footer and felt pretty secure. The only thing is you need to go over early and come back early. So you either have to turn around as soon as you get there, or stay the night and come back the next morning. The weather lately has been a little less of a concern, but we still get the wind later in the day. I follow this same plan with my 23 footer, I don't have the freeboard to be messin' around . . .

BTW, anybody know how to put a friendly label on links now? I saw that somebody had figured it out. Ya know, something like So Cal Marine Weather instead of that ugly thing up there . . .

QC,,,,,,If you haven't figured it out yet, the easy way, it would look like this without any spaceing. Also you must use the globe looking icon above the reply box then modify it after you click "ok" and it appears in your "Reply Form".

It appears like this before you modify it (without spacing).
[ u r l ] h t t p : / / w w w . w u n d e r g r o u n d . c o m / M A R / P Z / 6 5 5 . h t m l [ / u r l ]

Modify to look like this (without spacing).
[u r l = h t t p : / / w w w . w u n d e r g r o u n d . c o m / M A R / P Z / 6 5 5 . h t m l ] So Cal Weather [ / u r l ]

After modification and clicking on "Post Reply".

Yeah, RP, I found Brian's posts and have started doing exactly what you describe. I simply used the globe before and that was fugly . . . Kind of a pain though. I have been very reluctant to be critical, but is there anything that is easier with this new format? Search is useless as is too . . .

BrianS - Sounds good. I'm always looking for a group to cruise over with.

About 2 weeks ago I cruised over to Two Harbors with 3 other boaters; launched out of Alamitos Bay. Had a great time. I also work with SCORA - the SoCal Outrigger Canoe Association. They run a huge Newport to Catalina race every September. it's coming up Sept 9/10. Next weekend I'm heading over to Avalon.

Any weekend you're planning a trip - how 'bout a small regatta out of Newport, Hunt Harbor or Alamitos.

Probably thinking of trying a run on the weekend of Aug 27th to Two Harbors (I have to go to SF this weekend and next week for work). I have launched from Davies and like it but wouldn't mind trying Dana Point launch.
