i'm got a Volvo Penta AQ145A and am looking online for a new alternator, which many do by part number...and i don't know how to aquire the part number...

it's a Paris Rhone and i've seen cheap Delco replalcments for the Paris Rhone, but need to confirm the part number for a 55 amp ride...

any thoughts on the differeces between the hard to find and expensive paris rhone and the delco replacments?

any help?

Thanks.

You have an 858838, or 841765, or 841762, or 858839.

Sierra replacement number is 18-5970 - 55 Amp
or 18-5971 70-Amp

or 18-5972 90 amp

They usually run about 250 bucks. Or you can take yours to an automotive alternator rebuilder and they can repair it for a fraction of the cost. Yes, they will understand it is a marine unit.

thanks for the help. i've got one good auto electric guy in my small home town...and i didn't like his rebuild price on a paris rhone...

interestly the delco rebuilds were only $159 from an online company (free shipping)...but they referenced part numbers. thanks for you help.

i actually have a high voltage issue (approx. 16v) so i am thinking of just replacing the VR first...do you agree or should i assume that the brushes may be worn and 1/2 the problem?

A grounded field wire from the regulator, or grounded within the regulator itself will cause high voltage.
