any rubber transom boot coatings

My aftermarket OMC stringer transom boot is 1 year old and I just looked at it in shock... there are a million tiny cracks starting in the rubber. My boat lives on a trailer so it's dry all the time. Any ideas if there's something I should be putting on the rubber?

Good question hystat. I'm reusing my OEM 30 y/o boot cause I hear the new boots just don't hold up.<br /><br />I think those are made by Sierra and I did hear that they had made an extra bad batch (no UV protection). I would try to contact them and see either about a replacement or what you can use to treat it.

I know there are a number of rubber revitalizer/ protectors, but no idea as to how good they are. also might consider a tire dressing designed to revitalize & protect. again, no idea as to which or how well they work....

this one was has GLM right in the rubber...<br />I suppose they would warranty it - after I phone the online place i ordered it from, wait for them to phone GLM, chase everyone, remove the drive, remove the boot, box it, ship it, wait for a decision, wait for a new one, pay all the shipping, pay the duty and GST tax, clean all the silicone off, install and re epoxy all the screws.... (yeah, I know I'm sulking a bit... <br />Live and learn. This is a great lesson for anyone thinking they can go cheap on marine parts.<br />I have to go to the hardware store - I'll see what kinda goo they have on the shelves...<br /><br />geez, and I have an OEM one here but it's the 16 hole older type.

I have read elsewhere that there may have been a batch that don't hold up. I would call GLM direct and see what happens.
