Do you launch out of Colt State Park or somewhere like that? Is there a beach there that you hang out on?

BTW - I am in the next town over from you in MA. I don't get the boat out very much but usually hang out in RI waters such as Narragansett bay. Other than than just some local lakes and stuff.

tchamp, in narragansett bay you need to watch the tides and winds. The tide might be going out and the wind coming in from the south and you got some good waves in the open water in front of the islands. Also Allens harbor is really close to the islands. I think its like $10 or $15 for the ramp. Just find the fighting seabee and your on the right road. I use allens harbor all the time a short spin and your in the bay. Also John's bait store is right off rte95 and then its a quick ride to allens. Just take 146 to 295 to 95 exit 7. Theres construction going on on the off ramp and you could get easly lost but just bear right at the fork. Then just take the u-turn and johns is on the right 50' away. After just bang a uie again and take a right at the lights and go about 5mins down, say 2-3 miles and right at the new bridge take a left, its just after burger king which will be on the left. Then you see the seabee on your left. I was there last weekend and saw a peterbuilt pulling 22' boat.

Re: Any RI boaters here?

there are pleanty of ramps on both sides of the bay.
You can go to collier park in providence.
bold point in east providence.
this ramps are a lot closer to attleboro than allens harbor
and are free public ramps. they are only minutes away from the bay. a little ride up the providence river and your in the bay.

I'm from Uxbridge MA and was thinking of launching at the Stone Bridge Marina (where my buddy has a slip) Looks like Bold Point in E. Prov would be a much closer ramp. Is there parking at that park? Is it suitable for putting a 22 footer in the water?

Dissidentman, I launched out of Haines Memorial Park a couple of weeks ago. It was very nice! Two ramps with docks on each side. Plenty of parking and picnic area. I don't know where you are heading but it took us about 20 minutes to get to Prudence/Patience Island. There are lots of other things around there like Greenwich Bay ...

Re: Any RI boaters here?

Just saw this post...hopefully you are still monitoring it.

I always launched from Oakland Beach....free, two ramps (one on each side of dock - left side (when looking down) gets sandy so use only if you have 4-wheel drive). It is abit of a drive to get to but I have never had any problems with parking or a-holes.

I like to head south from the launch...there is a small island (Hope??) located west of Prudence that has a nice cove you can pull into on the south end. Be careful of rocks - go SLOW. drop anchor and swim/wade etc. You are sheltered on 3 sides so is a nice haven from the unexpected storm.

Good luck.
