Any opinons on Humminbird Piranana souders??

I am thinkin of picking up one of these lower price sounders. Does anyone have any pos or neg statements about them?? Thanks for your input.

I recently bought the hummingbird 200dx portable unit and I'm very happy with it I've rigged it on my float tube use it on my lake boat and ocean boat it's easy to use overall I like it. I tested the depth acuracy with a downrigger in 90' of water ir was bang on.

Hi, Phil.<br /><br />I've had bad luck with H'birds. Lose bottom at speeds above idle, turns off if electrical system exceeds about 13.5V. Had two of them do that.<br /><br />Never had a problem with Lowrance or Eagle units.<br /><br />Good luck.

I have a 160 Humminbird Extreme (my first sounder), where the screen pixel dimensions are close (or the same as) the Pirhana and 200sx.<br /><br />It seems to work OK, but it often misreads depth above 10mph and a wider screen is desired, if you see structure or fish, it is soon gone.<br /><br />If you are not pinched for money, I would suggest at least a sounder with a wider screen.<br /><br />I'm saving up for (a long time) the Bottom Line Tournament Champ 6500 and 4 Cannon Mag 20 downwiggers - Talk about high tech fishing
