Any one use this (skag guard - river runner)

Any have experience with one of these? Mac's River Runner skag guard.

They are to protect the skeg from what?
Getting the paint worn off?

Neither will help any to protect the skeg from impacts.

Well maybe the carbon fiber one will ever so slightly.

The carbon fiber one might be useful to "restore" the skeg after it got busted off.

Mine skag is broke off. Do I weld a new one on or put a skag guard over it? Which one is stronger?

The first one, Mac's River Runner looks like it might offer you SOME protection from gravel, oyster or sand bars and similar, but I doubt it would help much for a high speed strike on a stump or rock. The carbon unit looks like it would be great to repair a broken skeg and offer SOME protection from submerged objects. Good Luck!
