Re: Any one own a new E-TEC 50hp

I own a 40 horse E-Tec. As we speak it's in the shop rite now. The motor was bought new in Jan of this year. Had problems with "No Oil" light comming on and it ramping down in rpms. It was cold at this time and all they could say was to let the motor warm up for a bit, which would warm the oil. And I thinking up north it's a hell of lot colder then down in Louisiana, what they do?

I mostly just use the boat during the winter months.

Just last week had the same thing happening again. No Oil, well here we are today 10 hrs on the motor and 2 hrs with no oil. So that have ordered a oil pump to replace the old one.

We will see after this.

Next issue is a miss when running wot and 1/2 throt. You feel it more then you hear it. Three other guys that i hunt with have 50's and say the same thing. and their motors were not giving them the NO Oil light.

So time will tell

Are you aware that the factory recommends the use of their XD-100 oil when the temps are below about 40?F?

It is stated in the owners manual, plus your dealer tech should know that.
