Hi,
I'm usually found over on the I/O, or Boat boards.. But, in a couple weeks, I'm headed Home.... Old Town, Bangor area.. Got a lodge on Chemo pond...
Anyway, I'm going to put in down in Lamoine Point state park, on Frenchman Bay... I'd like to find out What,+ Where to try saltwater fishing... I'm comfortable to run as far as the Cranberry Isles, or over to Schoodic Point... Where can I buy a Box of Bait around Ellsworth, or Trenton ??? I've fished for Mackrell, when they're in.. I'd like to find something Bigger... Sandsharks ?? Maybe some bottom fishing ?? I'm looking for the "Sport" of the Fight, rather than Table Fare....Seems to me that most any fair sized fish caught on my Lake Ontario Salmon rods Should be 1 H*ll of a fight....
Any Tips, Ideas, or even an ole' Salt who'd like to go along... I'm all ears....
I hope to be on the salt 7/18,+ 7/19.....

So what's the ticket ??? Trolling, Drifting with a chum slick, Anchored with bait on the bottom, ????????????????

Mabe I should look at a map... is Maine part of the US??

Naw, It's a Country All It's Own.......
....God's Country....

There's freshwater fishing Everywhere up there.... All my friends,+ family are Trout+ Salmon chasers.... I wantta go chase Big Fish that can Bite Back....
I'm thinking a 30 or 40lbs Sandshark would be a Fair Fight, on light tackle.... 100lber would be even Better....

Hey Bondo
I am in Wells Maine. It is down in the southern portion of the state. I fish primarily in the Saco Bay area. Right now the stripers and bluefish are doing very well and will give you a nice fight. Mackeral works terrific for both.
There are also a few ledges that are producing nice cod and haddock but I dont know how far off the coast you are planning on trying to fish. Two ledges are Tanta and Trinidad.
As far as the area you are asking about, I have heard they catch stripers on the penobscot river up in bangor, tidal all the way up, first dam is in Veazie.
They do well in Bar Harbor I hear too.

Take a look at this site:
http://www.sacobaytackle.com/
They have a current fishing report and if you send them an email they usually have a fairly quick response time.
Also:
http://outdoors.mainetoday.com/fishing/bruce/index.shtml
This site has specific regions broken down to give fishing reports.

I hope this helps a bit.
Mike
