Any iowa boater on here?

im new to iowa. just moved from florida in november. i also just boat another boat. hoping to have this thing finished and restored in the next month. i would love to meet up with some people and fish or just boat, hang out or whatever. being new to the area i dont know very many places to go fishing, boating, hunting, ect. thanks
Also do they hold a boaters meet or fishing compitition. thanks again for info and advice

hahahahahah ummm not really i live in clearlake area. the lake is super low right now. the marinas reported they have increase sales on props compared to last year has already trippled. i laugh and say what from 1 to 3 he said no last year they sold 80 props so far just in the past few months they have sold over 200 props. thats crazy. i would really like to take a trip for a weekend and go the the river and travel down through the mississippi but not sure how to do that. ill be doing alot of mapping but according to alot of people there are lots of dry spots and little falls so you cant got very far. thats dissapointing but maybe someone will know of a place to dock and make a nice long trip south from there. maybe a couple of nice food places you can get to on boats or an island to go hang out at. things like that

I turned down a job in Cedar Rapids. other than the river which raises up every few years to swallow the town, not much boatable water - especially for my type of boating.

ya i deffinitly miss my 26ft CC deep water fishing boat. i would love to go back to florida but there is no work there so maybe one day but until then i gotta deal with what i have know. maybe ill have to travel somewhere else to fish or just boat.

Lots if good boating in ia!! The Mississippi is an awesome trip and nothing to be worried about at all, a group of us take a 3 day ride starting in Dubuque , we have gone as far as lacross wi, just stay between the bouy ( sp?) and your fine..
The okoboji area is awesome too, about a 2 hrdrive from clear lake.. Lots bigger and very clean clear water.

There is a lot of good boating in ia! The Mississippi trip is a blast , a group of go every year from Dubuque to lacrosse , use your head, stay between the bouies and you will be fine.
Okoboji lakes are awesome too,lots bigger than clear lake, cleaner water too. Lots to do on that lake, several bar / restaurant on the water .

not sure where in iowa ventura is actually, but there is also Coralville Resevoir, and lake Rathbun.

Lewis and Clark lake is kinda in Iowa......and Nebraska and South Dakota.....

Check out Red Rock I spent many years on that water. Lots of nice coves.
