Looking at a 90 model chapperel with a 3.0 litre mercruiser. Looks like the old iron duke to me. It is carburated and has a alpha one outdrive.

Howdy,

If you get freezing temps in Jack City, (or the boat came from somewhere where it freezes) you should look for a possible cracked block....

The 3.0L engine is probably one of the best little 4-bangers ever used in a boat!

If you're not familiar with boats.....you might consider paying a Merc guy to check it over.....

Rick

Thanks Rick,
I thought that was a solid engine. I am in Florida and not much freezing going on. The motor seems to run fine. Good even compression and is pumping water fine so am going to do the deal. Motor is clean as a pen and seems easy to service and work on.
Thanks,
Hal

Drain a little oil from the drive and look for evidence of water. It would really be good to test it in the lake to ensure that it achieves correct WOT RPM etc. After running check engine oil for water....

Good luck on it.
