Any ideas how to get a sail license online?

I'm wondering if anybody knows is there any website where you can take a test to get a sail license.

if your are inquiring about taking passengers for hire you should be able to find a captians study course near you where you can get a sailing endorsment, if you just want to learn to sail, most sailors or proud of what the do and would gladly teach you

Thank you guys for response. I just recently start attend National Coats Guard Boat Safety Course and find out that there is no such thing like boat licence or sail licence, there is captain licence and it is involves very serious study and exam.

I have never been asked for one...dont believe there is such a thing...I learned by trial and error...I have had some great times...always an adventure!

I think it is going to be mandatory to have a Boating Safety Course completed before you go out on your boat by 2008 in California. As of right now this can have benefits such as savings on marine insurance.

If you're talking about a "bareboat" endorsement there are plenty of on-line places to purchase your study materials but the final exam is a "practical" that has to be signed off by a licensed captain.

The bareboat endorsement will allow you to go to places like the Moorings, etc. to lease a boat and captain it yourself for leisure. Not for Hire.

I did this some years ago and now I rent sailboats in the spring and sail the caribbean with friends. The bareboat endorsement is not mandatory but it gives the leasing companies that warm fuzzy feeling.
