Any help for a comparison

Ive searched numerous topic on trying to find what year(s) the brown band mercs were from. I dont have a serial no or anything just thats its a 150hp V6 and Im assuming from the 80s sometime. Im looking to sell my boat to make way for an upgrade, Ive got a 86 black max 135 and was just trying to sus out the opposition coz theres another one for sale with the brown band motor on it? Also how do they stack up? Is there any potential problems with the brown band that would only be morally correct of me to point out to my potential buyers? Ive had no troubles at all with mine. Any help would be appreciated- and sorry about the vaugeness of topic.

The brown stripe was 1983 or 1984 , I forget which. Unremarkable model year.<br /><br />-W

If you have had no problems with your motor, then there is no reason to tell anyone looking to buy it anything different. You would be telling the truth! It's up to the buyer to research what he is buying. If other motors of the same type have had problems, it does not mean that yours is going to be the problem, too. This applies to all types and models of engines, not just yours. Sell your motor with confidence...
