I'm going out in a few days. The ice is 10" thick and the reports are good for pike.

Re: Any hard water fishermen here?

My local ice fishing lake has only 2 inches in the coves and mostly open water. Went by on Thursday and a couple of the locals were out trying to see if Darwin was right. Watched them for a few minutes with binoculars from the safety of the truck.

Flintlock deer seasons starts on Saturday, weather forecast is for rain all day. Figure I will hunt not fish. If I have to get wet I want to do it slowly, not suddenly :)

10" on Lake Elmore; hear that Memphramagog has 6" and people are poking holes and dropping tipups... But I want to see a few more weeks of cold before I go out there! There was open water only a few weeks back.

Actually would love to go trolling on Champlain but now the bays with the launches are iced in.

Ice is almost 6" so this week heading out for rainbows. Early reports from guys fishing on ice that was 4" (Read as idiots ) was good fish and lots of them. Limit is one rod and two fish in possession. Just want one feed and can then wait for the stipers to start running.

I just got back from my 8th ice fishing trip. Ice is around 15 inches thick. Caught a few nice Rainbows. :D I lost a real lunker right at the hole. :( It would have made the Rainbows that I landed look like bait.

Sweet! Now thats some ice. How are you setting up for your bows?
Will be going to Erie next week to try for some steelhead threw the ice.

Yea, I froze, as I stayed two more hours trying to catch him.

I was fishing in about 31 feet of water and jigging 5 feet off the bottom. I was using small jigs with one salmon egg on the hook. (Pautzke Green Label Balls O' Fire Salmon Eggs) Jigs were Gitzit (Golden Shiner Little Tough Guys) in 1/8 oz #4 hook. 4lb test.

Good luck on your steelhead fishing trip.
